An evening with toast - The Best of bread

This sold‑out fundraising event successfully raised $25,000 in donations for Youth Futures, an organization providing emergency shelter, temporary housing, and supportive services for runaway, homeless, unaccompanied, and at‑risk youth.

Youth Futures operates 24/7 shelters in downtown Ogden, Cedar City, and St. George, offering safe beds, drop‑in services, case management, and outreach that helps youth reunite with family or move toward self‑sufficiency.

Through the generosity of our attendees and supporters, Humanity Helping Humanity was able to strengthen Youth Futures’ mission of guiding vulnerable youth toward safety, stability, and a hopeful future.

Testimonial from Kristen Mitchell - Executive Director of Youth Futures

Over six months of work went into bringing this night to life, from a simple idea to something truly unforgettable.

It started when Steven Godin came to me with the idea of hosting a benefit concert. No band. No venue. No partners. Just a belief that music could help us care for youth who need a safe place to land.

I was all in.

From there, momentum took over. Steve secured the venue with the help of Seth Miller at Salt Lake Community College, and the Grand Theatre did not disappoint. It’s an absolutely beautiful space, and it set the tone for the entire evening.

Then, the band TOAST - The Best of Bread, said YES. That YES changed everything.

Steve also created a powerful promo video for the event, featuring our very own Shi Alex, who accessed Youth Futures services back in 2015/2016. Shi has now been with us for nine years, starting as graveyard floor staff and growing into a leadership role overseeing Quality Assurance for our entire organization. She ensures our systems are strong, our data is clean, and our work is accountable and is just about to graduate with her Master's degree.

Watching the audience experience her story on screen was incredibly moving.

This video captures what many of our youth endure before they ever walk through our doors.

We added a VIP dinner and reception, so guests could meet the band, included some fun raffle items, and had our team tabling out front to share more about the work we do. I had the honor of opening the night by getting up on stage and sharing with the audience information about our Youth Futures services, showing the video above on the big screen, before introducing the band which filled the theatre with music.

The night didn’t stop there. A documentary was filmed during the concert, along with short interviews capturing why people choose to support Youth Futures. Those will be shared through TOAST’s social media to help extend the impact and raise even more support for our youth.

So many people poured their time, creativity, and heart into making this night happen. The result was more than a concert, it was community, connection, and care in action.

What a huge success!!!!!! Thank you to everyone who stepped up, showed up, and helped us keep youth safe.
